Richard H. Newhouse, Ph.D. – Dr. Newhouse serves as our Laboratory Director and Vice President. He received his early training in the West Virginia State Health Laboratory which directed a career path to a BS in Biology. While completing his military service as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy, certification was earned as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Jacksonville Naval Hospital. He served as a Field Medical Technician with the 2/26 US Marine Corps in Vietnam in 1968. After returning stateside, he earned a position as Chief Electron Microscopist NAMRI in Bethesda, MD. He possesses extensive experience in tissue culture techniques, (both isotopic and non-isotopic) His experience with medical products companies included viral isolation with various NCI contracts, immunoassay development (autoimmune, STD, HIV, Hepatitis, TORCH, Herpes viruses and estrogen/progesterone markers. As VP of Laboratory Services for nearly 10 years at one company, he assumed the duties of clinical testing and principal investigator for human subject clinical trials. Dr. Newhouse received his graduate degree in Clinical Pathology (PhD) through the Medical School, UMAB, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Deborah McLean, MLT, ASCP – Deborah has a long history in the immunology field. Her past employment includes not only in-hospital service as a laboratory technician but also10 years in the manufacture of blood banking reagents. This field has a strong focus on immunology and antibody-antigen technology. Deborah serves not only as our President and Laboratory Supervisor, but also fills wherever needed. Since joining Atlanta Health Associates in 2007, Deborah has often served in managing all the functions of the company. When Mary retired in August of 2021, Deborah and Dr. Newhouse combined their talents and resources to purchase Atlanta Health Associates, Inc. They continue to serve their clients in the same manner since the company’s inception.

Christie McLean, B.S. – Christie is the “newcomer” to the company. She has a BS from North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, GA. She has proven herself to be a scientist at heart and has shown tremendous capability in the laboratory environment. She has a firm knowledge of office skills and serves as our office manager as well as a laboratory aide.

With over 45 years of combined experience in a small, dedicated staff, we are intimately involved in every facet of your testing procedure. We offer a 7-10 day turn-around time for most samples.
